The Maine Poetry website is a resource to help you become familiar with Maine poets. Permission to use the poems at this website must be granted by the authors of the poems.
If you look at the link block at the bottom of each page, you will find links to pages listing poets' books, Maine literary magazines, significant Maine books of other genres, bookstores, libraries, basic writing information, a blog for literary news and readings for your reference. A Maine Literary Hall of Fame is also included.
Four major deceased poets have individual pages: Edwin Arlington Robinson, Louise Bogan, Edna St. Vincent Millay and Leo Connellan. A poem is included with links to web resources. Living poets are listed with an example of their poetry.
Poets are listed if they have published chapbooks or books. The listing order does not denote the editor's personal valuation.
Some poets are not listed because publishers have not released poems, poets have chosen not to be listed or they cannot be contacted. Poets may be suggested to the editor by any person.
