Maine Prose, History, Poetry, &c

I encourage anyone unfamiliar with Maine literature to read a Maine anthology before dipping into individual volumes. You will also find a few good anthologies in used book stores with many wonderful gems of Maine literature.

The following list was compiled by, with my additions, the Baxter Society. You may not find books on this list that you think are essential. You are invited to send nominations to: editor@mainepoetry.com
